Occupational Therapy And Learning Disabilities Developmental Delays/Learning Disabilities?

Developmental Delays/Learning Disabilities? - occupational therapy and learning disabilities

Anyone out there with a child with developmental delay, learning difficulties, I will through a similar situation with my son and I would love to hear your story. Looking for tips and advice from others in my boat. So far, we have a diagnosis of developmental delay and begin early intervention program in our field of speech therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy received. My son has always been very nervous, irritable, tearful, but wanted to speak, and communication (lack of) problems in the foot, can not ascend or descend the stairs alone or to sit on his knee and is almost 21mos. Can understand long sentences like "Go Ahead mom out with the trash" or "give this daddy in the kitchen, but just not for me as a mom or dad that my husband and I can say simple things like" juice "or" bite "or balance point to things that interest me what he wants, or take in hand to show me things. Basically they have no communication with him about his nervousness and whining noise MAKis. We are looking for therapists begin working with him this week will be useful, but I have heard many stories that do not have and had nothing more to say than just time. Anyone? Thanks

ECI is an excellent program. I am glad that you are connected to them.

Let me give you an idea of the delay in communication. There are 2 parts to communication: open and expressive. They say he can not understand long sentences, so I think that listening to their linguistic abilities (and understood) are beautiful, and perhaps to come. Expressive speech is what the child says. I would Intervet specialist and speech therapist for a DVD series, which he loved to pray as the time signature. My son and helped him get tons of sign language. Decides not like 5-8 hours a day who did not. Time for one or two signed weeks, your point and grunt and groan. I thought I could be the first time he signed the "Help" and noted that this cry, he was in the kitchen (he wanted me) to help.

I think that can keep a problem that sensory irritable behavior. See if you can not sync a book with the title "the child. Someone recommended that I see, and I learned a lot fromwhat my son has the anime. My son is a mystery ... Applicant is a motor sensory perception (mainly rash), with tactile defensive. He did not scream bloody murder when I wiped her face and threw the clothes in the trash b / c it labels microphones. The book teaches us to bypass such as the problem.

You are doing the right thing. I can not say that through kindergarten, your child's "typical" but I can say that progress has been made. Life is difficult with a child with special needs. You can manipulate it. Please send me an e-mail support, if desired. My children have only a few delays in speech and sensory problems, but I have a great man, and I understand ....
